ZODML Hosts Nigerian Library Association Lagos Chairperson

Dr. Mrs Taiwo Ajayi, Chairperson of Nigerian Library Association Lagos Chapter visited ZODML’s community library at 196, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi recently and witness how the library has positively impacted its immediate community. 

During her visit, she had the opportunity to experience a literary session where the children were actively engaged in learning about the historical context of the slave trade in Nigeria. It was heartwarming for her to see the children's participation as they absorbed the story through reading and interactive activities.

Dr. Ajayi commended the serene and conducive environment provided by the library for the children which supports both learning and leisure. She noted that   the utilization of the  library spaces and resources stood out and was as truly remarkable.

During her visit, she partook in a game of ‘Opon Ayo' with the children. This game, known for requiring advanced mathematical skills, serves to entertain while promoting cognitive development. She was pleasantly surprised to have the rules of the game properly articulated by one of the children.

Dr. Ajayi extended sincere appreciation for the commendable initiatives undertaken by the organization, which have clearly made a positive impact on children's education and engagement. She stated that the Nigerian Library Association is actively working to replicate similar initiatives in Local Government Libraries across the state.

At the end of her visit, Dr. Ajayi expressed gratitude for the valuable work being carried out by the organization and its dedication to fostering a culture of learning and exploration among the younger generation. She said “I enjoyed my stay with the children. Indeed you are positively impacting the children in that environment”
