Fiction: Arrows of Rain by Okey Ndibe A young woman runs into the sea and drowns. The last man who spoke to her, the curious individual known as Bukuru, is asked to account for the suicide. His shocking revelations land him in court. Alone and undefended, Bukuru has to calculate the cost of silence in the face of stories which must be told. Non-fiction: A Way of Being Free by Ben Okri In this inspirational volume, the Booker Prize-winning author of The Famished Road makes essays into an art form. The ten pieces in this beautifully crafted collection range from the personal to the analytical, and includes a meditation on the role of the poet, a study of Picasso's Minotaur, an ode to human freedom in honour of Salman Rushdie, and an appraisal of fellow Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe. Children and Young Adults: Femi and His Dog– Olajire Olanlokun Femi wants a dog for his birthday; his sister Nife wants a bike for hers. Baro, Femi's new dog, helps get Femi get his sister her birthday wish.
